With the new school year upon us,  I am writing with a reminder that the Green Ribbon Schools application for 2023-24 is now open on the California Department of Education website.  This year applications are due on October 27, and we hope you are planning to participate in the program.  

To provide assistance, and encouragement, I am pleased to tell you that Andra Yeghoian and I have partnered to offer a special workshop to support schools considering an application this year. Andra is formerly the sustainability director at Bishop O’Dowd School in Oakland, recipient of the Green Ribbon award in 2015, she also led Green Ribbon technical assistance to schools and districts for five years in San Mateo County, and has been a reader for the Green Ribbon private school application. She is currently co-leading the CAELI Green Ribbon Campaign with George Garcia.

The workshop will be held on Zoom on Monday, September 25 from 4:00-5:30, and you can REGISTER HERE.  We also encourage you to participate in the US Department of Education Green Strides Tour of exemplary Green Ribbon Schools, which is an excellent way to see firsthand examples of environmentally sustainable schools.
